7th Natural Fibres Festival

The Natural Fibres Festival is back at the Antigo Pomar das Caldeiras da Lagoa das Furnas and is now in its seventh edition.

This event is dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and innovation of regional handicrafts that utilise natural fibres as their raw materials. During the first weekend of August, in addition to the exhibition of large wicker pieces, workshops will be run by local artisans on creating small pieces from wicker, New Zealand Flax leaf, corn leaf, and banana fibre. This year, those interested will also have the opportunity to participate in a workshop to create a ‘clay knife’ using Monterrey Cypress wood.
