Evaluation Meeting and Monitoring Visit – LIFE SNAILS

April 24, 2025

On 21 March 2025, a meeting was held between the LIFE SNAILS management team and the Santa Maria Island Nature Park, with the participation of the Director of the Santa Maria Environmental Service, Dr Rosa Pires, and the coordinator of the operational team, Dr Jaime Bairos.

During the meeting, a review of the progress made in the first quarter of 2025 was conducted, assessing the achievements of the operational teams in controlling invasive species, planting endemic species, restoring habitats, and ecological monitoring. The following actions to be implemented in the second quarter were also discussed, ensuring the strategic alignment of ongoing activities.

The meeting also included a field visit to the project’s intervention areas, allowing for an on-site assessment of the work carried out and discussions on potential adjustments to optimise the outcomes of the ongoing actions.

The next follow-up meeting is already scheduled for the second quarter of 2025, enabling a continuous evaluation of the progress of the implemented actions and the planning of the subsequent project phases.
