Planting of Scabiosa nitens on the island of Flores

As part of Action C3.2 ‘In-situ conservation’, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, in collaboration with the Flores Island Environment and Climate Action Service, reinforced a population of Scabiosa nitens on the island of Flores, specifically in the Caldeira Branca area, one of the project’s intervention areas.

This action aims to preserve endangered species in their natural habitats by collecting seeds, which are then germinated in the Faial Botanical Garden. After this process, the plants are reintroduced in strategic locations, helping to strengthen endangered populations.
