Monitoring Campaign

Between 4 and 9 February, a monitoring campaign was carried out as part of the LIFE SNAILS project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action.

The fieldwork was led by the Scientific Assistant and Scientific Consultants, with the support of three Santa Maria Natural Park members and the Management Team. This initiative aimed to implement a monitoring system to assess the presence, dispersal, and distribution of terrestrial snails in restored endemic forest areas, analysing colonisation patterns and the impacts of ecological restoration actions.

With a medium- to long-term perspective, this approach aims to enhance the significance of the work carried out and the statistical and scientific robustness of the collected data.
