Which are the greenhouse gases?

Which are the greenhouse gases?

July 27, 2021

Some gases naturally present in the Earth's atmosphere act like the glass walls of a greenhouse, trapping the sun's heat and preventing it from escaping into space, thus contributing to global warming. However, human activity is increasing the concentrations of some of them, in particular carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and fluorinated gases.

In the Azores, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change, under the LIFE IP CLIMAZ, will develop actions* to reduce the emission of those gases, such as resizing the electricity production and transport system in order to increase the use of renewable energies, as well as to develop the pilot project for bovine feed production with the introduction of a red algae to decrease methane (GHG) emissions.
