LIFE SNAILS project presented at the 17th European Geoparks Conference

The Regional Secretariat for Environment and Climate Action took part in the 17th European Geoparks Conference, held at the Reykjanes UNESCO Global Geopark in Iceland from 2 to 4 October, with a presentation on The contribution of LIFE Projects of the Regional Secretariat for Environment and Climate Action, to the preservation of natural values in geosites of the Azores UNESCO Global Geopark – The case of LIFE SNAILS.

The conference brought together more than 300 participants from various UNESCO Global Geoparks, with a strong representation from European Geoparks. The presentation by the Azores UNESCO Global Geopark highlighted the contribution of LIFE projects in the Region, promoted by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, to the preservation of natural values in the geosites of the Azores Geopark (UGGp). In particular, the case of the LIFE SNAILS project centred on the conservation of endemic species and the restoration of natural habitats.
