LIFE IP AZORES NATURA and LIFE BEETLES take part in the HORIZON LEVERS project
Dec. 9, 2024
The LIFE IP AZORES NATURA and LIFE BEETLES projects, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, participated in the Capacity Building Workshop on Climate Justice, given by neuroscientist Dr Kris De Meyer, Director of the UCL Climate Action Unit University, and his team. Held within the framework of the HORIZON LEVERS (Learning Ventures for Climate Change) project, this workshop was conducted in collaboration with Expolab - Centro de Ciência Viva, the partner organisation responsible for implementing the activities in Portugal.
This participation is part of Action E3 – Networking with other projects – and ActionC2.1 – Internal training – of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project. In the LIFE BEETLES project, it falls under Action E2 – Networking, technical dissemination and transfer/replication.
During the workshop, Dr Kris De Meyer presented tools for tackling climate change, highlighting that our actions can influence our beliefs, emphasising the importance of telling stories of positive actions in the fight against climate change. He argued that this approach can inspire more initiatives and transform the climate narrative, shifting from a problem-centred perspective to one focused on concrete actions.
The LEVERS project focuses on education as a promoter of climate justice. The climate crisis and biodiversity loss represent complex challenges that require greater scientific literacy and the involvement of society as a whole to enable children, young people and adults to take an active role in building a sustainable future, transforming science education to be more flexible and inclusive, reaching all stakeholders in a transversal way.
This project will be implemented in nine regions: Belgium, Cyprus, Slovenia, Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Serbia, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
