LIFE IP AZORES NATURA at the Pico Agricultural Fair 2024
Dec. 5, 2024
The LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, was present at the Pico Island Agricultural Fair, which took place last October. During the event, the project organised ‘Dobble Invasoras’, an educational game where visitors were challenged to identify the alien and invasive species in the Azores archipelago, raising awareness of local biodiversity conservation.
There was also a briefing aimed at agricultural entrepreneurs entitled ‘Fencing Pico’s protected areas: What do you need to know?’ as part of Action C13.2 of the project. During this session, the challenges and solutions for protecting the island’s protected areas were discussed, with particular emphasis on implementing fences and the positive impact of these measures on preserving natural habitats.
During the three days of the fair, we had an information stand dedicated to the LIFE projects underway in the Azores, where information was shared about the various conservation initiatives underway. Visitors were able to get a closer look at the work of LIFE IP AZORES NATURA, its objectives and the positive impact these actions have on the preservation of species and habitats in our Region.
