SRAAC takes part in the 2nd Atlantic Meeting on Environmental Education for Sustainability

Dec. 2, 2024

The Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action (SRAAC), through the Citizenship and Environmental Education Division (DCEA), took part in the 2nd Atlantic Meeting on Environmental Education for Sustainability at the Azores UNESCO Global Geopark invitation. The event occurred at the Real Club Náutico de Santa Cruz, on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands, on 7 and 8 November.

This initiative, aimed at professionals in the field of environmental education, as well as specialists, academics, and representatives of local and international institutions, allowed for the exchange of knowledge and experiences between regions of Macaronesia, Portugal, and Galicia.

Considering the archipelagic reality of our territory, SRAAC's School Environmental Awareness Activities Offer, which includes activities from the Azores Geopark, has great relevance through its balanced and effective presence throughout the Region. This participation proved to be an added value in consolidating the partnership between the various entities present, which is reflected in the excellent service provided to the community, in terms of literacy on the importance of geodiversity and geological heritage, as well as resilience in the face of geological risks and climate change.
