LIFE IP CLIMAZ project visits Native Species Forest Nursery
Aug. 28, 2024
As part of the celebrations for National Nature Conservation Day, the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project visited the Native Species Forest Nursery, in collaboration with the Citizenship and Environmental Education Division of the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action (SRAAC), with the participation of 15 children and 2 monitors from the Terra Chã Community Centre, under the guidance of technicians from SRAAC and the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources and Territorial Planning.
During this activity, the children present were explained the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project and its importance for adapting to and mitigating climate change in the Azores. In the Interpretation Centre of the Forest Nursery, there was an interactive presentation on the formation of the Azorean islands and the native flora, as well as an explanation of the various themes regarding the region's endemic species.
Finally, a visit was made to the project's intervention area, where the nursery infrastructure was extended. This investment, carried out as part of the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project, aims to increase the production capacity of endemic plants, which will be used in the various intervention areas of the nature conservation projects.
