LIFE SNAILS project promotes environmental education activities in July
Aug. 26, 2024
During July, the LIFE SNAILS project carried out several environmental education initiatives on the island of Santa Maria, with a particular focus on field expeditions where participants could learn about the species endemic to the island and the project. These activities took place in two different locations: the forests of Faneca and Fontinhas.
The initiatives were part of the Ciência Viva no Verão programme, promoted by ExpoLab, and took place under the theme “A Passo de Caracol”, in celebration of the National Nature Conservation Day. The main aim was to raise awareness among the various participants of the importance of biodiversity conservation and to provide them with a practical environmental education experience. The field activities included identifying and recording different snail species, contributing to the progress of the research of the LIFESAILS project.
