Protection Status: Protected by the Habitats Directive (priority species) and the Bern Convention; considered on “risk” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

Small shrub with white-pink flowers. It grows in the cracks of coastal sea-cliffs and the sandy and steep slopes. It is one of the most precious elements of the Azorean flora and characterized by being the only type endemic of the Azores.
