Sargassum vulgare

Distribution: North Atlantic from Scandinavia to Mauritania, Macaronesia and Mediterranean.

Protection Status: indirectly protected under the Habitats Directive.

A brown colour plant that can reach 50 centimetres. Fixed to the substrate by a discoid foot, has abundant branches. The first branches have serrated margins. Species common throughout the archipelago, and fixed to the rock in the intertidal and upper submerged area.
