Columba palumbus azorica

Origin: Azores

Conservation Status: vulnerable; it is a priority species, in accordance with the Directive Birds.

It has between 39 and 43 centimetres long. It is found in forests, farmlands and parks, nests in trees and is considered the "architect of the Azores’ woodlands". It is a species of community interest whose conservation requires the designation of Special Protection Areas (SPA).
