Measuring the plants on the grove of Terras Altas

During the activity, measurements will be made to trees, in this area covered by the REINFFORCE - Resource Infrastructure project, with the aim of monitoring, adapting and protecting the European Atlantic forests from climate change.

The results obtained will allow assessing the adaptation of some of the most common species of European trees to our climate, namely by monitoring their mortality rate and growth levels.

The main objective of REINFFORCE, a project with the collaboration of the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change, is to improve knowledge about the capacity of 33 forest species to adapt to climate change. For this purpose, the same genetic material was installed in 38 different climates, from Portugal to Scotland.
