Protected Landscape Area of Sete Cidades


Voted one of the seven wonders of Portugal, hosts a unique natural beauty, providing a place of excellence for the conduct of activities in nature.
The mountainous areas of sharp relief, with deep ravines and ridges in whose beds are large waters, is one of the largest volcanic calderas of abatement of the Azores.
It is an important area of endemisms, especially in the flora, Juniperus brevifolia, Angelica lignescens and Lactuca Watsonian. Are also endemic birds of the Azores, as Turdus merula azorica and Regulus regulus azoricus. It is a zone of passage for several species of migratory birds.
It includes an urban area, the Sete Cidades parish.
